Tonto Gets A Big witch Tattoo On Her Back

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, is by now, enjoying the best of her life as a make-believe queen in the United States of America where she is with her friends and colleagues, Uche Jombo, Kalu Ikeagwu and others for the tour of the movie ‘Damage’ in the States.

She had left the shores of this country earlier this month to the United States for that purpose, Damage premiere US tour. Just some weeks back, news had filtered the media of her 57 tattoos on her body, which she was happy with when people read about it.

Just yesterday, she posted a picture online of her new drawn tattoo, which she did on her back just about two days back in the United States. The picture has been generating comments from her friends on twitter and other social networking sites online.

In one instance, one of her fans asked why she drew a bigger tattoo on her body (back), she simply replied the fan to get himself killed if he was not happy with her tattoo.

Hmm, Miss Ikwere lady or Engineer Tonto, that was too harsh to say to a person and from a celeb like you. All the same, your fans care about you, which is why they are concerned about you. As you once said, it is your body and life, no question. Success……..

“Baba Suwe Is Using High Level Black Magic On Us” – NDLEA Officials

CONTROVERSY continues to trail the arrest of popular home video actor cum comedian, Babatunde Nurudeen Omidina, popularly called Baba Suwe.

Though, the anti-drug scanning machine at the airport which screened Baba Suwe detected some drugs hidden in his stomach leading to his arrest and eventual detention by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)….

The popular comedian has excreted three times but no traces of hard drugs were found in his excreta on the three occasions. This led to outcries from members of the public especially Baba Suwe’s colleagues in the Yoruba genre of Nollywood calling for the release of the comedian. His lawyers have even slammed a N100 million suit on the anti-drug agency.

However, the controversy deepens last Friday when a Lagos High Court gave the NDLEA authority to hold on to the comedian for 15 more days. This was sequel to the new discovery by a CT scan conducted on the actor which revealed that indeed there are drugs logged his body.

The raging controversy has been whether it is true that the actor has some drugs in his body. Many are of the belief that if indeed Baba Suwe has drugs in his body, he could have health problems since he was arrested. “If indeed he has hard drugs in his body, he should have died since,” Sade Oloriebi, an actress stated.

But the NDLEA would not have none of this. According to the anti-drug agency, Baba Suwe’s case is not isolated as there have been similar cases in the past. “In fact we have had cases where the accused raised curses on us after excreting three times but no drugs were discovered on them. However, after CT scans were carried out on them and drugs were discovered, they ate humble pie,” an official of NDLEA said.

Another controversy introduced into the matter now was the issue of juju popularly called Africa Magic. “There was no doubt about it. He was carrying drugs but we know he is powerful spiritually. The drugs may have disappeared through juju. The machine actually detected drugs in his system,” an official of NDLEA at the Airport disclosed.

Another NDLEA official corroborated his colleague’s claim. “Our machine detected it at the Airport, people said we are telling lies that we are just witch hunting him now that the CT scan conducted at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) has confirmed drugs in his body again what will people say? The fact remains that this man is using high level juju on us,” he said.

For those who are bringing in the juju angle, they pointed to the actor’s different postures as the drama unfolds. When he was first arrested, it was discovered that Baba Suwe was a little bit jittery. But as event unfolds, he started regaining his confidence leading to the show of support by his colleagues. He was even reported to have boasted to close friend and colleague, Jide Kosoko that even if he was asked to excrete one thousand times, they would not find anything on him.

Let the blame game begin!

NDLEA to release Baba Suwe to family, lawyers for independent scan

LAGOS—The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Tuesday, said it had informed the family and lawyers of detained ace comedian, Mr. Babatunde Omidina (Baba Suwe), of their readiness to release him to them for an independent scan to bring the matter to a conclusive end.

Confirming the development to Vanguard, Airport Commander of the agency, Mr. Hamza Umar, said the agency made this position known to the family members and his lawyers when they visited their office on Monday.

He also said they were told to take him to any independent scan examination of their choice under the watchful eyes of the agency, assuring that they were prepared to release the actor should the independent scan say otherwise.

However, Vanguard gathered that 72 hours after this assurance was reportedly given, neither the family nor the lawyers had returned to the agency to inform it of their decision.

Umar said the agency was ready and anxious to collaborate with the family and lawyers to bring the matter to a close.

Baba Suwe, who has been in the custody of NDLEA since October 12, over alleged possession of cocaine, was said to have made a series of excretions but no drug has been found on them. The NDLEA said the actor will continue to be under their observation.

Baba Suwe was nabbed aboard an Air France aircraft to Paris at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos, about 10p.m. on Wednesday, October 12 when he allegedly tested positive to drug ingestion and had been placed under observation since then.

Baba Suwe had on Monday asked a Federal High Court in Lagos, presided over by Justice Okechukwu Okeke, to vacate an order he gave, which empowered NDLEA to detain him for additional 15 days.

The request formed part of a motion on notice he brought, pursuant to Order 26 Rule 11 of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2009. The artiste, while asking for an order of the court discharging or vacating the order issued by Justice Okeke, argued that the application for the order obtained by NDLEA was grossly irregular and constituted an abuse of the processes of the court.

In the motion filed by his counsel, Bamidele Aturu, Baba Suwe also argued that the application for the order obtained by the respondent was contrary to public policy and constituted a wanton violation of his fundamental rights.

The Don Jazzy Interview

Michael Collins Ajereh (born November 26, 1982), better known as Don Jazzy, is a Nigerian multi award-winning record producer, singer-songwriter, musician and CEO of Nigerian record label Mo’ Hits Records founded in 2004.Recently rated as the 36th “Most powerful celebrity in Africa” according to Forbes Contents, Don Baba J as he was more fondly called by artists on his label tells his story.

Often mistaken for an older man, Jazzy tells Saturday Vanguard that he is haunted by matured and often married women who want his love.He also clears the air on certain issues that have become a subject of discourse in the entertainment industry.

Read on:

The first time we were to have this interview ,you said you had nothing to say . So do you have something to say now ?

I still don’t have much to say. It’s just a turning point when I suddenly decided that having finished a lot in a short while, many people want to know why I’ve stopped for a while. So I just got the confidence to talk to the press or anybody who wants to talk to me .It’s not like I don’t have anything to say. Most times when my boys go for interviews and I get to read them or watch them on TV, 30% of what they say has to do with me. So, there’s no point granting interviews where I’ll have to say the same thing they’ve said about me.

Also, I’m a music producer and director and we’re not supposed to be in the public’s eye. I don’t see reasons why I should bring myself out when there are those who need the publicity more. But right now, everyone is an individual and got good things going for themselves. D’banj, Wande Coal and others have songs and albums which they can be identified with.

Will it hurt if an album you produce doesn’t sell?

That’s one place where I know God has given me the talent, to always shine. Every producer can put out albums, but there’s a difference between a producer who can put up an album and one who can build an artist. It’s also another thing to have a producer that can make a legend. There are different stages in life and I know that God has given me the gift to look at someone, know the kind of music that’ll fit him and do all it takes to make such a person big.

In the music industry, I make my own rules because the way music is done outside the country is different from the way I do my own job.Outside the country, the producers and artists get royalties from TV, radio stations and clubs. So there are rules that apply when an artist records a single. But here, we don’t follow those rules because we don’t get any royalties.

So what are your rules?

I make up my rules as I go. If I want to release a single now, I don’t just put out one single. We wait for the video and put it up. If you’ve noticed from when I started, from the time of D’banj’s Entertainer, I put out three songs like Mo Gbona Feli Feli, Olorun Maje and Too Much. These are markets for both the Yoruba, Igbos and others.

At that time, 9ice’s Gongo Aso was out too. Mo Gbona Feli Feli was for the club. Olorun Maje was more like gospel then Too Much was more like a gambling song and they all had their markets.
And if you look at Wande Coal too, we put out three songs too-Bumper To Bumper, Jehovah, Bananna was more like an R & B. I do my things the way I want and from the response I get from people, I decide whether or not to shoot the video.

For D’Prince, we did Omoba, Good Morning Your Highness, Walahi Talai and Ulu. Ulu was a kind of dance in vogue at that time. It was a slow dance for big boys. And it was the dance reigning around the world as at then. Omoba is a club song in Nigeria anytime any day. Walahi Talai is more like a street song which we gambled with.

Is Mo’Hits like a cult where other aspiring artistes are not welcome?

Is Samklef Really Getting Married?

Samuel Oguachuba aka Sam klef is the a music producer and the genius behind some of the biggest musical hits in the music  industry today, like of Ruggedman, Durella, Vector, Soni Neji, D’Prince, Skales, Wizkid to mention a few. Molowo Noni Video brought him to lime lite early this year when he released his debut singlewhich features  Ice Prince, Whiz kid and D’ Prince.

It was a massive hit and Samklef was left dizzy with cash but that may just not be the only happy news coming from his quarters.Tale bearers recently took to the streets with the gist that Samklef is dumping bachelorhood for good. According to our source, he is will be heading to the altar in  a matter of weeks with the love of his life. The gist carries that Lagos will be the venue of the event but no one has been able to put a date on the ceremony.

It got even more difficult as all efforts to reach SamKlef or his manager to confirm or refute the story proved abortive. Our sources however maintains “it is the truth:.Because of the tight lipped arrangement behind the traditional wedding ceremony of Free madness crooner ,Terry G a lot of people are willing to give this story a listening ear.

SamKlef is primarily a producer, but also thrives as a recording artist. He’s responsible for producing several hit singles that’s made the career of countless stars.Durella’s My Life was produced by him and Whiz Kid’s Tease Me which had been recorded during a freestyle session had been mixed and mastered by SamKlef in exactly 30minutes.

Everybody Loves Ice Prince [Album Review]

So the mantra around town is Everybody Loves Ice Prince. The third rapper in the Choc Boy collective has finally dropped his much anticipated debut album popularly abbreviated as ELI. In exactly a year Ice Prince Zamani has gone from obscurity to national fame after he dropped his colossal single ‘Oleku’ followed by a less successful but equally commercial follow up single ‘Super Star
So what does this pop star’s debut album sound like? Well for one thing, Ice Prince is ambitious. Being one of today’s pop acts, Ice constructs records that lean towards the popular demographic than the rap crowd where he sprouted from. When his stars align the songs hit their mark. ‘Juju’ orchestrated by label mate and singer/producer Jesse Jagz has a tinge of Afrobeat in it and sees Ice rhyming about fake friends. ‘Wassup Wassup’ feat 2face is another of these songs as Ice Prince borrows Wizkid’s flow on the track. ‘By This Time’ featuring highlife favourite Wizboyy is a track concocted with Eastern Nigerian in mind with its heavy highlife influence.

It’s not all of Ice Prince’s experiments that work. ‘Baby’ is a deliberate attempt to cash in on the new highlife fever in the country and not a very good one at that. ‘Olofofo’ featuring pop sensation Wizkid is paper weight at best and ‘End of Story’ featuring Samklef gives off the ‘been there-heard that’ feel that now lurks in his rehashed beats.Another ‘Achilles heel’ of Ice Prince is his might I say ‘cheesy lines’. In a bid to impress with his wordplay he goofs by kicking some head-scratching lines. While this can be noticed in the album, the major culprit of this is Magician featuring Yung L & J Milla.

Despite these flaws, ELI is an LP with some solid tracks to its name. ‘Find You’ is a sober track dedicated to his dead parents. Ice’s youngest sister talks at the end of the song which makes it very gripping and emotional. ‘Somebody Lied’  speaks on his determination to make it in Lagos and the broken promises of the democratic government.
Overall Ice Prince has ended up delivering a debut that shoots for the stars. While not reaching its target he has however placed himself in the galaxy Nigeria’s rising pop stars.

Babatunde Omidina,Baba Suwe arrested possession of Cocaine

We’ve just confirmed, from multiple sources that Babatunde Omidina, the veteran Yoruba comic actor popularly called Baba Suwe, was last night allegedly arrested by immigration officers at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, in Lagos, for being in possession of Cocaine.
The popular actor was on his way to Paris, France to attend a naming ceremony of an Air France staff scheduled for Saturday, October 15, 2011. He was supposed to be the master of ceremony at the event.
The 53-year-old actor who lost his wife Monsuratu Omidina on Thursday, September 3, 2011, had been the subject of repeated rumours over illicit hard drugs, but he consistently and vehemently denied having anything to do with Cocaine and other banned substances.
But airport sources are now confirming to Nigerian Entertainment Today, that Baba Suwe was allegedly nabbed last night while attempting to depart Lagos for Paris on a 10pm scheduled Air France flight AF3051.
He was arrested and taken into custody by the FAAN and airport immigration’ a source at MMIA tells us.
Details still sketchy for now, but we’re working to get details, as well as reactions from colleagues.
Omidina is not the first Nigerian actor to be arrested for drug trafficking; in 2006 Yoruba Movie Actress, Wunmi Yetunde was also arrested by the NDLEA for cocaine possession and in 2007, Nollywood actor, Tochi James was nabbed on his way to London for the same offense .

Ruggedman's Fashion Line Accused Of Stealing From Another Designer

Rapper, Ruggedman veered into the fashion industry in 2008. After his first attempt to break into the industry failed, the rapper is making another attempt as he relaunched his fashion line with new collections from his T.S.W (20th September Wear) late last month.

The rapper has been accused of borrowing 'heavily' from the creativity of an upcoming designer, Natischa Harvey.

A similarly designed pair of shoes in Harvey's 2010 collection called 'Fever Shoes' has been spotted on Ruggedman's T.S.W new collections.

A Nigerian lady on twitter accusing him of stealing shoe design for his 2011 T.S.W apparel.

You STOLE your ENTIRE shoe collection from Natischa Harvey's Fever Shoes… WOW really tho????''I know Fever shoe are not super popular, but still come on! anh anh. He wasn't even subtle about it'. 'He didn't even change the colour and tweak the design a little'Ruggedman denied claims TSW new shoe collections ripped off of NAtischa Harvey's Fever Shoes when he tweeted this in reply

"I tot to just ignore u but decided to speak to u a bit let u know dat cos u have mouth, doesn't mean u speak all the time''pple like u are so quick to jump at a chance to run someone down with the negativity, u fail to reason 1st before acting. I know your type'.'I only got one word for you 'customising'. Try n figure d rest out for urself cos i cnt tell u ma trade secret".

Ruggedman also claimed the shoes in question were designed by some designers outside Nigeria.

Here are collections from the two brands.Judge This!

‘Headie’ is the name given to the Hip Hop World Awards gold plaque.

NOTES

  • The first Headie plaque was done by Jide Adewoye.
  • In 2008, Headie became 21k gold plated; produced in the UK after failed attempts to get the same quality locally.
  • The present Headie plaque is a mixture of resin, copper, steel, marble and gold.
  • Headie is sometimes referred to as Sound Sultan after the musician of the same name. The similarity was first mentioned by Mode 9 after winning a Headie plaque in 2006.

‘Oil is curse to Nigeria’...Could This Be True?

Victoria Ojeme
Mr. Richard Dowden, Director of African Society, London, undertook a cursory assessment of the state of affairs in Nigeria Tuesday, insisting that oil is a curse to Nigeria.
Dowden, who was guest speaker at Independent Anniversary Lecture in Abuja, told a gathering of top government functionaries, including members of Federal Executive Council, led by President Goodluck Jonathan, Speaker of House of Representatives, governors and others, that the discovery of oil was a curse to Nigeria, as it had led to widespread corruption and looting of resources by corrupt government officials.
He stated that along with over-dependence on oil, such factors as endemic corruption, bad politics, failed economic policies, favoritism for appointments and the country’s bad reputation have combined to continue to slow down the pace of development.
The lecturer, who added that Nigeria’s economic woes began with the advent of oil which, according him, led to a lack of initiative by successive governments, noted that major players in the private sector also contributed to the country’s poor economic indices, with the frequent use of under-hand tactics such as tax evasion.
In his paper entitled, “Nigeria in Transformation” delivered at Tafawa Balewa House headquarters of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Dowden said that for Nigeria to return to the post- independence era in which it recorded trade surplus, investments must be made with a view to exporting cash crops.
Singling out members of the National Assembly, who he criticised for earning the highest pay in the world as congressmen, Dowden warned that the country could not continue with the socio-economic disparity between the rich and poor.
“I believe oil is a curse, it is like “King Midas.” When King Midas was king, he wanted everything he touched to turn to gold. Everything he touched turned to gold but he starved to death. When he touched food and drinks, it turned to gold. Did oil make this country rich? No, to the contrary.”
The President, while pledging improved power supply, insisted that he could instigate change by building institutions and convincing the best brains in Diaspora to return home to contribute to national development.
He declared that on completion of his reform agenda, Nigeria will end its run with budget deficits and return to a path of stability, completely changing its oil dependent status.
Jonathan said: “When I see people in my office, I always say that only a few people needed to see me if the system is working. Ministers don’t need to see me if the system works.
“Ministers have a budget approved by the National Assembly to run their ministries, their recurrent and their capital project. If they are competent, they can run the ministry in a way that Nigerians will know that they are working,” he added.
“A lot of things have not been done properly, we have a lot of negative issues, because of this probably because a lot of things need the intervention of the president, you probably want to alter something that is not good enough. Now we are in the process of carrying out such corrections, once we are through which such restructuring, Nigeria, will get to where we are going. I have no fears about that.
“The problem of oil which Dowden raised is true. Any country that is blessed with minerals tends to breed corruption. The extractive industry tends to breed corruption. I made the statement somewhere before, that in ten years or thereabout, we should be able to run our government without oil. And we can do it.
“If you look at the size of Nigeria, all the general imports that come into Africa, 20 percent of it come to this country. If we have well managed ports alone, the income we will make as a government will be enough.
“Because there are lot of linkages, things are not done well, goods have to be cleared from other countries and transfers to Nigeria. And if we fix a number of the things we must fix, people may complain that its politics, but we must do these things, we have no choice. By the time all these institutions are fixed in ten years we will run government without oil.
“For us as a people, we must look at others to learn from where they did well and forget where they didn’t do well. He wrote in his book and he made the statement here that everybody thought that the country is going to collapse, that Nigeria is going to be a failed state. But Nigeria is moving.
“He said it that we have very good people, some in the academics, he asked that why is it that we cannot fixe our own country and that is the kernel. We have fantastic people all over the world, for us to have 25 thousand doctors working in America, the questions is how can we use these talents and brains we have to move this country forward?
“I promise Nigerians that surely, we will move this country forward. We will employ all we have and build strong institutions to move this country forward.”

The blessing&the curse of 'The Beauty Queen' - Omowunmi Akinnifesi

Excerpts from her blog...

Another annoying issue is the stereotype that Beauty Queens sleep around. That just gets under my skin. Why must this be so? Why? As for my case, I have maintained a scandal free aftermath and I humbly thank God for saving me from the hands of the devours. From a man called Dele Fasan: The Red Carpet Fraudster who walked up to me at an event asking to take a photograph and proceeded to granting an interview with journalists that we were dating for years. Or the Naeto C issue where it was said that we were an item and I even met his Mum (Hardly even knew him then), or “Omowunmi and her Escorts”- Anyone that knows me well would laugh at this blatant lie. As if that wasn’t ludicrous enough they come with a blockbuster “She dates married men” (this one got me laughing hard).
All these false fabrications just to sell papers and also to get hits on Internet Blogs is highly disheartening. Some of these people are better off picking a career as movie scriptwriters. We all wake up to condemn society and indeed the Government for our woes and travails when indeed we the people, contribute a great quota of unimaginable ills to society. Oh well, it comes with the territory we tell ourselves. The bitter price of fame. People forget that Queens are Human. I am not saying all Queens are clean (I mind my own business). But it just damages the entire platform.

Nigerian Illegal Immigrant Border Force UK Video Goes Viral I am 15 Years Old he claims

UK Border Force is a documentary series TV show that goes behind the scenes of border controls. An episode of the show which features a Nigerian illegal immigrant has hit the internet and gone viral.
The video clips features a Nigerian man named Benson who arrives in the UK with a passport with a “permanent leave to remain” stamp stolen from another person’s passport.
When the man is caught, he tries to beg the border control officers and then he spins a tale about how he got the passport from someone called “Uncle London” and then goes on to insist that he is “15 years old”. The Border Force officer asks him for the year he started school, he mentions a date and then changes his mind. He then insists that he is in JSS3 while from his looks, one can reasonably estimate that Benson is in his 30s.
In the end, the narrator tells us that he was moved to a halfway house and is now nowhere to be found!
While the clip is rather funny, it just shows the lengths people go through to leave Nigeria. Sad.

CelebWalk To Stop Diabetes

According to the World Health Organization, a few decades back diabetes was an uncommon disease, in both developed and developing countries. Today, the story is different. It is currently estimated that over 143million people worldwide are affected by the disease. This figure is ever increasing, by 2020 over 220million people are expected to be living with diabetes, if the current trend continues. In the United States alone, there are 18.2 million people (6.3% of the population) living with diabetes. While another 13million people have been diagnosed with diabetes. Unfortunately, 5.2milion (or nearly one third) ar unaware that they have the disease. The figure for Nigeria is not readily available, but it is estimated that over 1.5million people have diabetes in Nigeria In developed countries, most patients of diabetes are over sixty, but in
developing countries, diabetes is found to affect people in their prime.

WHAT IS DIABETES?*
Diabetes Mellitus (or simply diabetes) is derived from the Greek word 'Diabeinein', meaning 'To pass through' describing copious urination, and Mellitus from the Latin word meaning 'Sweetened with honey'. These two words signify sweetened urine or sugar in urine.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use Insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed, in the body, to control the rate at which sugar, starch and other food are converted into glucose required as energy for daily life. The hormone is produced and released into the blood by an organ called 'Pancreas'. This insulin help to maintain the blood glucose level within a normal range. The World Health Organization (WHO) puts this normal range between 60 - 100mg/dl (Before taking any food for the day, hence this value is called Fasting Blood Glucose). In health, despite several demands for glucose in different situations, the blood glucose rarely exceeds this value.

After a meal the liver stores the glucose from the meal as glycogen and releases it into the blood in between meals. The role of insulin is the control of this storage and release of glucose. It ensures that the amount of glucose in the blood at every particular time does not go beyond or below the normal range.

*TYPES OF DIABETES.*
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), five classes of diabetes are recognized, these are; Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM) or Type I Diabetes, Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM) or Type II Diabetes, Gestational Diabetes, Diabetes Insipidus and Bronze Diabetes.

*INSULIN DEPENDENT/TYPE I DIABETES:
This type of diabetes was initially called Juvenile onset diabetes because it affects adolescents and young adults. It is caused by a sudden failure of the pancreas to produce Insulin. It is, therefore, an acute disease, presenting with thirst, polyuria (passing large amount of urine), diuresis and weight loss. Type I diabetes is not common, it accounts for less than 10% of all diabetes cases.

NON-INSULIN DEPENDENT/ TYPE II DIABETES:
This is the most prevalent type of diabetes, accounting for more than 80% of all diabetic cases. It is found in
adults and the elderly. This type of diabetes develops gradually over a long period of time (unnoticed) and is characterized by insufficient insulin, deficient insulin in the blood or the inability of the body to utilize the insulin resent (Insulin resistance). Because of its slow and gradual occurrence, it is mostly undetected until one or more of its long-term complications appear.Unlike in Type I Diabetes, the Insulin in the blood of a Type II diabetic may be normal or even high, but lacks the desired effect, due to insulin resistance, and this is prevalent among obese people.

GESTATIONAL DIABETES:
This type of diabetes occurs during pregnancy and disappears after delivery, within 3weeks. An estimated 3% of all pregnancies are accompanied by gestational diabetes and almost half of these patients are prone to developing permanent diabetes later in life. WHAT CAUSES DIABETES.

As with hypertension and other non communicable diseases, no clear cut cause(s) can be attributed to the most prevalent type of diabetes (Type II Diabetes, Type I diabetes being secondary to failure of the pancreas). However, some factors are known to increase one's chances of becoming diabetic and these are called risk factors. For example, indolent and well-fed populations are 2 - 20times more likely to develop type II diabetes than active and lean population of the same race. Some other factors known to increase one chances of getting diabetes include:

*OBESITY: *It is estimated that three quarter (¾) of all Type II diabetes patient are obese. Indolent and affluent lifestyles tend to contribute to this. It is believed that a 10kg loss of weight can reduce fasting blood sugar level by almost 50md/dl. An active lifestyle with frequent exercise is also known to increase Insulin sensitivity.

The International standard for measuring overweight and obesity is based on a value called BODY MASS INDEX (BMI). This value is derived by dividing the body weight (in Kilograms) by the square of height (in metres).

i.e. BMI = Body weight (Kg) / Height2 (Metres).
Note: 1ft = 0.305metres.
For adults, a BMI less than 25kg/m2 is preferred.
25 - 29kg/m2 is considered overweight and above 30kg/m2 is Obesity.

The ABSU Rape – Justice Must Be Done.. Why It Will Occur Again,

The ABSU Rape – Why It Will Occur Again

On Sunday, September 18, 2011, a 33-day old recorded rape material found its way to the internet. Social blogger Linda Ikeji exposed the gory incident and minutes after, it went viral on nearly all networks. The agenda for Monday’s discussion was set: how five young Nigerian men heartily raped a girl and filmed the one-hour escapade while the victim underwent a roller-coaster of emotions.

The deathly gang-rape summarized in text and aided by a still shot from the grueling video set panic, cursing and advocacy into action.  An abridged 10minutes cut from the recording was posted on line for a brief second before it was taken down out of necessity.  The victim and perpetrators were labelled undergraduates of the Abia State University and the disastrous act took place at an off-camp private hostel, reports alleged.  And while a large percentage of the internet populace mourned the victim’s misfortune, many more clamoured for justice.  The victim, who was eventually sought out and found by Non Governmental Organisations not to be an ABSU undergrad, fought for her life initially but later succumbed to the beastly rapists who took turns to defile her while she wept and then asked to be killed when the pain became unbearable. Her alleged offence was ‘insulting’ one of the boys.

By Monday morning, less than 24hours into the ‘revelation’, the Abia state government had issued a statement labelling the post a ‘distraction’ sponsored by political detractors, thus dismissing investigation. By Tuesday, a visit paid by Channels Tv to the school for enquiries into the incident (as tweeted by a reporter with the news station) met with a school Dean who promised to sue all websites, blogs and magazines that had joined hands to put the school in disrepute; further corroborating the governor’s earlier denial. And even though Hon Abike Dabiri Erewa raised the issue on the floor of the House of Representatives’ that Tuesday, nothing was certain ‘cos nothing was promised. So where do we go from here? How do we convince concerned authorities that a crime had taken place right under their noses?

The livid youths refused to be dissuaded.  Twitter folks spearheaded by @Sugabelly – a Nigerian living offshore who’d survived a similar experience, Advocacy NGOs; EnoughIsEnough, Project Alert, War Against Rape among others, took the bulls by the horn and declared war on the rapists. EiE went as far as offering a N200, 000 reward for information volunteers on the rapists. The die was cast; the battle line drawn. While the advocacy groups launched a search for the victim, @sugabelly focused on the conversations that went on in English and Igbo languages in the recording and uncovered five names – Uchenna, Zaki, Ifeanyi/Ugbaayi, Wisdom and Chisom.  The recording also revealed one of the rapists  as a 400Level Law student and another, an IT student. While the rapists clearly avoided their faces in the recording, the girl’s was clear in the video that had first made the rounds in the Eastern higher institutions before leaking to the internet.

Donning the investigation hat on the general citizenry, false accusation wasn’t far away. While @sugabelly hounded the internet passionately to book the gender assailants, a certain Ifeanyi Ogu Justin was soon falsely peddled as a suspect.  Jonah Uche and Zaki are circumstantially robbed in too and no one is certain of their guilt or innocence. The full name ‘speculations’ soon compelled attention from the State lawmakers who summoned the Vice Chancellor of ABSU as well as the State police boss seeing that the State government’s tune had changed.  The names provided ‘leads’ for the police as they took up the case.  Soon the Minister of Youth Development and National Human Rights commission admitted to identifying one of the rapists conclusively, but added that it is difficult to convict the apprehended of charges since the video is unclear.

In another landmark stride, young people, via the new media, have forced authorities to taking up responsibility but this tool will not always yield desired result. Until the lawmaking bodies of Nigeria put in place stiff laws insisting on the mutual consent of sexually involved partners while posing penal consequences for sexual violations, violators and similar offences, attempted or actual, then we are not on our tracks to sanity yet.  The impunity with which the ABSU rape was carried out and filmed is a resounding embarrassment on the system that should protect its people as well as keep them accountable. More embarrassing is the initial reaction of the Abia state government and State police that made investigating officers of concerned yet untrained citizens whose passion and determination helped establish a case as well as crack the puzzle. Shame to them; Kudos to us.

While an auto-driven justice system without need for prodding before investigating any crime whatsoever is pertinent, a complete purging and re-orientation of the society is pivotal to the reportage of sexual abuse by victims.  The mentality that pushes the blame bulk to the assaulted rather than the offender needs to be defeated by continuous sensitization while also creating facilities for the rehabilitation and re-integration of rape victims into the society. Hopefully the five animals involved in this case study will be fully apprehended and booked optimally to face the full wrath of the law.

Rapper The Game’s Trip To Nigeria Cancelled, Replaced By Singer Joe

Source reaching us confirm to us that US rapper Jayceon Terrell Taylor better known as The Game will not be performing at the MTN Project Fame West Africa opening gala holding tonight Sunday, October 2, 2011 after the rapper failed to make it to Nigeria.

As reported earlier The Game was meant to perform on the same stage with fellow US act Brandy Norwood and African pop singer D’banj and Project Fame Alumni Iyanya, Praiz, Myke and Chidinma but sources close to organizers hinted that the rapper won’t be gracing the shores of Nigeria.

However, a quick replacement has been made as US singer Joe just arrived Nigeria and is being driven straight to the concert venue as at the time of this report.

The Game who is a frequent Twitter user didn’t drop the notion about visiting Nigerian at any point recently unlike Brandy who tweeted through her @4everBrandy handle ‘On my way to Nigeria!!!! First time but not the last:)‘.

The Game first traveled to Nigeria  in 2008 for the ‘Road To the MAMAs’ show.

Should we say Jayceon Terrell Taylor thought it was a GAME?!!!
